The special Ezo deer has arrived directly from Asahikawa, Hokkaido.




It can be roasted, grilled or served as homemade sausages.


This meat is absolutely soft and with no smell.



It is in a perfect harmony when served in a red wine sauce with a bit of Marsala's sweetness.


Of course, we can also simply grill it and serve it with salt and pepper!

2013/12/9Brown cattle meat directly from Minamiaso!

Some days ago, our manager Mr. Mikata went to Kumamoto in order to check some ingredients.


First of all, he visited Aso National Park to check about Japanese brown cow.



Cattle born and 
grew up with the clean water and air of Aso are grazing in the vast grassland from April to November.

The meat of brown cattle that grew up in nature, with enough physical movement and eating grass fully bathed in the light of the sun, has a right amount of fat together with the rich unique flavor of Japanese beef, but the main feature is its tenderness.



After this, he went to check vegetables in Ubuyama village in Aso District.


Here, Mr. Masuda of "TerrasseGourmande" (Tasty garden) concern himself about safe soil making process and, fearing the pesticide residue, he decided to open his own field through the forest.



His vegetables are beautiful as a work of art and, as he is not using pesticides and chemical fertilizers at all, they stay fresh even after some days.



Then...the brown cow meat from Kumamoto finally arrived here!!



The brown cow has it’s individual identification number: 1340971715.


In the photo you can see the T-bone steak but we would like you to enjoy also other part like leg, rib, and L-bone steak, all cooked as much as possible in a simple way.


Please, try it together with Mr. Masuda’s vegetable.



Don’t miss the chance to enjoy the original taste of meat but with less fat.

Season finally came: also this year white truffle arrived directly from Alba!



Even if it was still in the box, we could smell the fragrance that came and spread all over the hall.

Hot fried egg on Parmigiana flavor asparagus with slices of white truffle from Alba.



Even if simple, it’s a good appetizer to enjoy the taste of the ingredients.

Baked white squid stuffed with herb and dry tomato.


Calamaro ripieno con salsa di pomodori secchi



This is the new sicilian menu from Peppe, new entry at Elio’s family.


It’s close to the Japanese dish called “ikameshi” (boiled squid stuffed with steamed glutinous rice) but without rice!



It is stuffed with bread crumbs and olive, quick baked and then served with potatoes and paprika.


In Calabria it is often used this combination of flavors.


It’s a simple dish but the taste of each ingredient it’s really attractive.


This is just an example of the fusion between Sicilia and Calabria.


Germano and Peppe are now trying more and more to create new different menu.

2013/10/17About the salt we are using at Elio Locanda

At Elio Locanda Italiana we do not use any chemical refined salt,


but a very nice sea salt ("sale marino") that has been drying under the Sicilian sun.





This salt comes from Trapani, so our new Chef "Peppe", who is from Trapani as well,

can tell you why this salt is so special!

Not only is hand-made and hand-picked,






But absorbing the full power and warmth from the southern sun,

this salt is able to enrich all our receipts.







It can be used for cooking Pasta as well as for seasoning and preparations of all kinds.

2012/9/28Villa Orsara wine - Press release at Embassy of Italy

On September the 12th


we held the first official press release of Villa Orsara wine at the Italian Embassy in Tokyo.


After the initial greetings by the Ambassador of Italy, Elio explained the aim of the promotion of Villa Orsara wine.


Erica from Royal Tirrenian introduced the wine background.


Then Mauro Colacino, the Colacino Wines`owner and Villa Orsara producer,  presented the winery history along with the technical details.





This event was a very important occasion for introducing Colacino Wines`s efforts

in producing a wine from local grapes according to the Calabrian tradition.


Mauro Colacino is not just a longtime friend of Elio, but a talented and proud Calabrian winemaker.


But the general economical crisis in Italy is affecting the wine producers in Calabria,

and when Elio heard from Colacino about the possibility of reducing their vineyards in order to face the market

he decided to cooperate in promoting this unique wine also in Japan.



Villa Orsara wine is bathing under Calabria sun, respecting nature and tradition.

Its taste reminds the homemade wine that is always present on the Calabrian family`s table.

we would love to share more details about our visit to Mr. Asokenko Nouen, our herbs producer in Minamiaso, Kumamoto prefecture.


Mr. Asokenko Nouen`s health farm, located in the Aso National Park, is surrounded by nature and pure air.


This farm is special for his total hydroponic culture system.

Pollination is naturally made by bees, rather than by hand.


Bees work is fundamental for obtaining the best genuine and natural taste possible.

2012/5/10Visiting direct producers in Kumamoto


Dear Friends,


we hope all of you had a great time during the Golden Week holiday.


We spend those days visiting two of our direct producers in Kyushu (Kumamoto)!



We visited our herbs and basil producer in Minamiaso, Mr. Asokenko Nouen



And after we visited our clams and mussel fisherman in Amakusa, Mr. Kumamoto Kaiyo Kaihatsu



It has been a wonderful experience to visit them and see their experience and genuine passion.


Now we feel much more close and familiar with them!


We checked the quality and safety of the products, and how much care and love they put in the all production process.


The same effort and love we can find it in Elio Locanda Italiana, isn`t it?

2011/7/1Our donation to the Mayor of Minami Soma (Fukushima Prefecture)

We express all our concern for the victims of the 2011 March 11 Tohoku Great earthquake.


On the occasion of the presentation of the book “Nuclear Tsunami” by Italian journalist Pio D’Emilia, that took place last Wednesday June 29th at the Italian Cultural Institute in Tokyo, our staff Ms.Takezawa gave a contribution to Mr. Sakurai,  Mayor of Minami Soma.

We collected 129,055 JPY thanks to the customers of Elio Locanda Italiana (95,854JPY) and of Elio’s Bakery in Ohgibashi (33,201JPY).


In addition, Kioi Corporation, which operates the restaurant “Elio Locanda Italiana” and “Elio Catering Service”, donated to the City of Minami Soma 1,000,000 JPN collected at the end of March this year.

We are in deep grief for all the people that have been struck by the consequences of the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake.



We would like to introduce you an artiche from "Kyodo News" (May 17, 2011) that reported the charity activities in Rikuzentakata city by the Italian volunteers in Japan.

The Great Eastern Japan Earthquake hit with a sudden shock and deep sadness all the Italians who live in Japan, and love Japan.



As part of the Italian community, we have started this volunteering activity in Rikuzentakada City as a way to concretely help and give support to the people who are suffering the serious consequences of the earthquake.



Elio and the staff of Elio Locanda Italiana will continue volunteering to support the victims of the earthquake.

2011/3/23Elio Locanda Italian has opened again from Tuesday March 22nd.

We are in deep grief for all the people that have been struck by the consequences of the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake and we all pray from the bottom of our hearts for a reconstruction as quick as possible and for the country to stand up firmly against this difficult circumstances.



Elio Locanda Italian has opened again from Tuesday March 22nd.



Supplying routes seems to have been restored and we were able to ensure the safety of

all of our staff and their families.



We deeply apologize for all the inconvenience caused to our customers during the temporary closing.



Elio and all the staff are happy to be able once again to serve you.



During the last week, however, the staff at Elio`s Central Kitchen have been working and preparing fresh bread and food which sales will be devolved to relief projects in Minamisoma City, Fukushima prefecture. This city has been hardly stricken by the earthquake and tsunami and also happens to be the hometown of one of our staff.

We will inform you about the donation details in the next days.



Please come and enjoy Elio`s good food and smiling service as usual.

We will be your power source in these difficult days.

We are in deep sorrow for all the precious lives that havebeen taken away by the Great Eastern Japan Earthequake.



Our hearts are near to all the people in afflicted areas who are trying their best to overcome this difficult situation.



Elio Locanda Italiana was planning to close until today (wednesday 16th) but to difficulties in the supplying chain and thinking about the safety of our staff, we decided to close until Monday 21st.

We are planning to reopen from Tuesday 22nd.

We deeply apologize to the customers who had already made their reservations and to all the other customers for causing such a trouble.
